Polished Concrete Floor Gloucestershire

Polished Concrete Floor Gloucestershire

Our client approached Concrete Polishing. They wanted a polished concrete floor at their wedding venue in Gloucestershire. The client was wanting to convert an out barn on their estate into a wedding reception or hospitality area. The overall concept was to keep the flooring style in line with the rustic feeling of the barn, therefore our Rustic Style Finish polished concrete floor was the best option. Due to the venue hosting parties, our client was looking for a flooring option that was low maintenance. Slip resistant and stain resistant. A polished concrete floor furfilled all of these points.

The existing concrete floor was laid by a different company. Contractors had finished the floor to a substandard power float. Therefore in places the floor was uneven. Contractors began by completing a series of lighter grinding steps. This therefore highlighted the natural movement of the power trowel marks and creating a rustic style finish. For contractors to achieve a rustic style polished concrete floor, it is unnecessary for heavy grinding. Therefore no aggregate is exposed. The final stage that contractors complete after the grinding steps is applying a concrete sealer. Contractors then used the concrete sealer, and as a result, this, therefore, aids with protection from spillages and slip resistance. All main objectives that our client had.

Polished Concrete Floors – Leicestershire

Our client was in the early stages of their new build property. And, the flooring option that they had chosen was polished concrete floors at their property in Leicestershire.

They were wanting to create a modern, stylish space. They, therefore, felt that polished concrete floors were the most suitable flooring option for them. Polished concrete is also easily maintained, resistant to spills, and environmentally friendly. All concerns of our clients.

A different contractor installed the underfloor heating system. The client asked Concrete Polishing to install the concrete. As well as mechanically diamond polished the floor. The concrete was placed directly over the underfloor heating system. Also, finished to a power trowelled standard. The client had chosen a Silver Grey Rustic Style Finish. This, therefore, was in keeping with the modern style that the client was wanting to achieve. Therefore, there was no aggregate exposure.

For contractors to achieve a Rustic style finish. The area was subject to lighter grinding stages. This, therefore, highlight the movements of the power trowelling. Industrial Polished Concrete Floors

Industrial Polished Concrete Floors

A factory was looking for Industrial polished concrete floors at their premises in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East. The current floor was in need of full restoration to improve the overall functionality of the floor. The client, therefore, felt that industrial polished concrete floors were the best option for them, due to them being dustproof, durable and easy to clean, minimal lifetime costs, and non-slippery. These just to name a few as to why polished concrete was the most suitable choice.

The floor had been laid for a considerable amount of time. Continuous forklift traffic was covering the area every day. Over time the floor had cracked, together with discolouration, and had become quite dusty. Therefore, all factors needed to be rectified.

Contractors began with a light grind. Grinding, therefore, removed any residue and painted on the surface. Contractors then moved onto a heavy grind. Grinding would resolve any imperfections within the surface. A clean, level, smooth surface was created by contractors. Contractors could then start to mechanically diamond polish the floor. In addition, cracks were dug out, cleaned and then filled with coloured semi-rigid polyurea by contractors. To finish, contractors also applied a concrete sealer. Contractors carried out sections of the floor at a time. Therefore, work could still take place within the factory as usual. All work carried out by contractors was within a controlled environment.

Polished Concrete Floors – Herefordshire

Polished Concrete Floors

A client contacted Concrete Polishing that was wanting a polished concrete floor at their home in Herefordshire. The property was a new build project. Our client had chosen a polished concrete floor as their type of flooring because it has minimal maintenance, stain-resistant and eco-friendly and of course aesthetically pleasing. These were all crucial factors due to the polished concrete floor stretching throughout the downstairs.

polished concrete floor polished concrete floor

Our client was wanting to create a minimal, modern feel to the house. The floor had been laid in conventional concrete and was power trowelled by a different contractor. There were slight imperfections, so contractors had to carry out a Variable Style Finish. This is where there is slight aggregate exposure. To create a variable finish, contractors carried out an initial light grind. This enhances the characteristics created by the power trowel and exposes minimal aggregate. The floor could then be mechanically diamond polished. Contractors mechanically polished the floor to a 400 grit. Contractors then applied a concrete sealer to help with slip resistance and stain resistance.

The polished concrete floors stretched throughout the whole of the reception of the house, the results were fantastic. Concrete Polishing made a smart, modern and minimal space. The results, therefore, exceeded our client’s expectations. Another brilliant job by Concrete Polishing.

Polished Concrete Floors – Scotland

Polished Concrete Floors – Scotland

Concrete Polishing were contacted by a client that was in the process of renovating a whisky distillery. The client felt that a polished concrete floor was the most suitable option for their project in Scotland. The client was looking for a flooring option that was low maintenance, retained heat well, and of course, was aesthetically pleasing. Therefore, polished concrete floors in Scotland was the better choice.

A different contractor had placed and power trowelled the existing floor. The contractors that laid the floor, unfortunately, had issues on the day of placement, this, therefore, resulted in the floor being substandard. The client, therefore, instructed concrete Polishing to restore and rectify any problems that had occurred.

The type of finish that the client was wanting was a Rustic Style Finish. No aggregate exposed to the surface. To achieve this type of finish, the contractors carry out a series of very light grinding stages, and no heavy grinding is needed. Once the contractors completed these stages, contractors then applied a sealer to the floor. This aids with slip resistance and stain resistance. Also, a major problem that occurred was surface cracking. Contractors filled these with semi-rigid polyurea.  The client decided they wanted to make a feature from the cracks. Therefore, a slightly lighter polyurea was applied. The feature looked brilliant and added to the overall rustic style finish that the client wanted.

As you can see, the end results were fantastic, on this polished concrete floors in Scotland. A great result from Concrete Polishing!

The client asked concrete polishing to supply, lay, finish and mechanically polish the new floor. Our clients chosen finish was the Rustic Style Finish and Silver Grey in colour. The finish does not show any aggregate. The surface is, therefore, power trowelled.  Contractors laid the concrete directly over the underfloor heating system. Contractors then finished the floor to a high power trowelled standard. The standard of power trowelling is essential, this therefore will determine the overall look of the finished floor.

To achieve the polished concrete floor in Buckinghamshire, the Husqvarna HIPERFLOOR® system was used. Contractors carried out a series of light grinding steps. Industrial Polished Concrete – Shropshire

Industrial Polished Concrete – Shropshire

A client approached Concrete Polishing, they were in the first stages of expanding their warehouse.  An industrial polished concrete in Shropshire floor met all our client’s needs, this, therefore, was their first choice. The benefits of an industrial polished concrete floor would be a long-lasting, high strength and durable surface. Resistant to abrasion, and therefore good for high traffic areas. Floor flatness, so also ideal for forklifts. All needs of our clients.

Our client was wanting Concrete Polishing to install, finish and mechanically diamond polish the new floor. The type of finish was the grey industrial finish, this is the most popular in an industrial environment. The surface is power trowelled, therefore, no aggregate is exposed.

After the floor had been laid and finished to a power trowelled standard, 28 days was allowed. Contractors could, therefore, then begin to mechanically diamond polish the new floor.  In the light of our client not wanting aggregate shown, a series of lighter grinding stages were necessary. Therefore, highlighting the natural power trowel pattern, what our client wanted.  Contractors then applied the concrete sealer to the floor. This helps with slip resistance and stain resistance.

Polished Concrete – Mid-Wales

Polished Concrete – Mid-Wales

Our client contacted us regarding a project in Mid-Wales. They were in the early stages of renovating outbuildings into commercial offices. Our client had looked into many types of floor finishes. The client, however, decided that a polished concrete floor was the best option for their project in Mid-Wales. Polished concrete was the clients chosen finish due to it being hard-wearing, low maintenance and aesthetically pleasing.

Concrete Polishing installed, finished and polished the concrete.  The clients chosen type of finish was the Exposed Aggregate Finish.  Where aggregate in the concrete is visible.

Once the concrete had been laid contractors were then, therefore able to power float the surface. Contractors then left the surface to cure for around 28 days. The surface is then ready for contractors to mechanically diamond polish the floor. Contactors achieved the exposed aggregate finish by firstly heavy grinding the surface. After the grinding stage is complete contractors then begin to mechanically polish the floor. Once complete, contractors can apply a concrete sealer. This helps with slip and stain resistance.

Polished Concrete – Warwickshire

Polished Concrete – Residential

Our client approached Concrete Polishing, who wanted a polished concrete floor in an extension at their property in Warwickshire. The extension was to be a kitchen/snug. The area was to include an oak timber-framed feature window. As well as oak cladding on the walls and skirting. The clients, therefore, felt that an Exposed Aggregate Finish with a high gloss would be the best option and would suit the overall look that they were wanting to achieve.

The client asked for Concrete Polishing to place, finish and polish the floor. The client chose to remain with the natural colour from the local quarry where the concrete would be supplied from. They felt that the neutral tones of the concrete would therefore complement the oak timber throughout.

The concrete was placed by our contractors directly over the under-floor heating system. And finished to a power trowelled standard. Once contractors had finished placing the slab, the mechanical process could therefore begin around 28 days later.

Polished Concrete – Process

The clients chosen type of finish was the exposed aggregate. To expose aggregate a heavy initial grind is therefore necessary. This in turn prepares the floor for the mechanical diamond polishing process. Heavy grinding also eliminates any imperfections in the concrete that may have occurred when placing. Included in the area was a kitchen. Therefore, a significant factor that the client wanted to avoid was any staining from spillage. Contractors, therefore, applied a sealer to the area that would prevent any spillages from penetrating into the floor. Once contractors had finished the polishing process, contractors could apply the sealer to the area.

As you can see the outcome of this polished concrete floor in Warwickshire was stunning!  As a company, we met the client’s needs. Within the allocated timescale and budget. Concrete Polishing once again exceeded the client’s expectations.

Polished Concrete – Gold Crack Repair

Polished Concrete – Gold Crack Repair

A client contacted Concrete Polishing facing the unfortunate problem of their existing polished concrete floor in Cheshire cracking. A different contractor had laid, placed and polished the floor. After inspection, the previous contractors had not added expansion joints to the slab. Therefore, as time had progressed cracking had appeared. This is a common fault in concrete flooring if joints have not been placed correctly.

The client wanted to make the cracks a feature. We felt that at Concrete Polishing we had the perfect solution to make the cracks a feature, a polished concrete gold crack repair. This therefore would be to fill the cracks with a gold joint repair filler.

This specific style of repair is known as Kintsugi. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics, or in this case concrete. The concept behind Kintsugi is to accept damage as part of the history of an object. This, therefore, is precisely what our clients wanted to achieve with their floor. To accept the cracks and turn them into a unique feature.

Kintsugi repairs worked especially well on this polished concrete floor in Cheshire. Due to the interior being minimalistic. You could therefore really see the effect, and it really contributed as a feature of the room.

While most people will see a crack as a problem, and whether you wish to conceal it or make it a feature. Concrete Polishing can undoubtedly offer you a solution to restore your polished concrete floor.
