Concrete Repairs and Expansion Joints

Concrete in large open spaces is often subjected to heavy loads and mechanical traffic such as FLTs. The pressure exerted on the floor can lead to degradation and damage. Often damage builds up around weak points, such as joints or points of impact. Large areas of concrete require expansion and control joints. These edges, often when they are not flush with the concrete surface are prone to spalling or cracking over time. This also presents an uneven transition for FLTs and pallet trucks, causing extensive damage over time. With a range of rapid set repair mortars and polyurea joint filling products, we can rebuild areas such as major damage, joints, spalling and bolt holes. With the products being both rapid setting and suitable for an industrial environment its possible the zone can be ready for traffic as little as 4 hours after restoration which can be valuable when minimal downtime is vital.

Logos and Colours

Whilst concrete floors are principally functional, they can also be utilised to promote a company. Logos and company colours for branding purposes can all be incorporated to a floor. The colours are absorbed into the floor using concrete colour dyes which mechanically bond to the concrete within the surface. Because the colour becomes integral to the concrete, the design will not wear or peal from everyday use unlike topical coatings such as paints and epoxy, even when subject to heavy mechanical traffic.  Colour can also be used to highlight specific zones such as walkways, fire exits, keep clear areas and more. This can be useful in a working factory environment to assist with health and safety concerns whilst offering a long-lasting solution.

If the premises has an existing concrete floor its likely it can be polished. We can offer a range of finishes, although these options can be limited by the condition of the floor. There may be the need for floor repairs if it has suffered damaged, but these can be factored into the polishing process. The colour of the concrete and aggregate will also affect the final look of the floor. Where colour is an preference, we can use a concrete dye to alter the final tone. Commercial floors can also have logos, brand names or other decorative designs stained into the floor. This creates a long-lasting effect that is not subject to flaking such as alternative topical coatings.
